graduate, check. get job, check.

I got a job! I was offered a position at Stillwater Elementary School, replacing the retiring librarian.  Stillwater is the next town down the Hudson from us and is about a 10-15 minute drive from home. Yay!

Now to get a house...

another update

It has been so long since I updated (well, before two days ago!) so I thought I should catch up a bit.  I have been finishing up school and my internship.  I actually graduated on May 20th, but have to finish up my last internship before they'll send my diploma.  I'll be done next Friday, but because of the holiday and an extra snow day, I only have five days left!  I have been enjoying my internship but I'm really looking forward to having the summer to hang out with Dan and the baby.  I had an interview last week for a position in a local town.  I think it went really well.  I'll know more early in June.  I am sending my resume in to a few other districts this week, to keep my options open.  I have to go get fingerprints done on Friday to send in for my teacher certification.  I have one more certification test to take in June and then all my ducks should be in a row.

Dan has been working on our house and Eric's.  Cat's room is almost done and Eric's basement floor is apparently completely smashed up (on purpose!).  Cat's room is a lovely shade of green and the floor has been beautifully sanded and stained.  It needs a couple of coats of poly and then she can move in.  We'll probably actually move her stuff in but keep her in our room for quite a while longer.  We used a shade of green from her crib bedding for the walls and a shade of yellow from the bedding for the trim.  We've got the trim all painted and ready to go but the floor has to be finished before we put it up.  Dan has also been repainting a bookshelf he had as a kid in the pretty yellow color.

Cat is outgrowing her diaper covers, so I am going to have to order more for her.  I can't believe that my baby is getting so big!  I am anxious for her next doctor's appointment so we can see how much she weighs now.  I think that she is getting to be interested in solid foods.  We haven't started her on any but I was eating an apple last night and she was fascinated by it.  I let her mouth it a little to get the texture and she grabbed my hand to pull it more into her mouth! I think that we will check with the pediatrician before we start her on anything, but I think this was a good sign that she's getting ready.

back to the real world

Today was my first day at my first internship.  I think it went really well.  I had a good morning and was able to come home around 11:30am to feed baby Cat.  I was done and home by 2:15.  It was great.  Dan and Cat had a nice day at home together too.  They hung out and had a nap or two and Dan gave Cat a bath as well.  We are planning a trip to Ithaca this weekend to visit Dan's family.  Traveling with a tiny baby should be interesting, but we are looking forward to the adventure.

I am becoming more and more ambivalent about work.  One the one hand, I want to work as long as I can so that I can stay out with the baby as long possible but on the other, work is growing really tiresome--I have limited patience and I rarely feel rested.  When I got home today Dan and I ran a few errands and then took a nap for most of the afternoon.  Last night was a long night and the nap was great.  Bob nearly finished the nursery today.  He has a little base trim to finish up and a closet door to put up, then his part is done.  He won't be back until next weekend though, as his new baby is coming on Tuesday, so he'll be busy for a little bit.  Dan and Joe and Gerry are going to work on the walls and floors until he comes back.

We got a start on the bedroom today and Dan put the new table and chairs together last night.  They look great, and are a huge improvement over the huge box in the kitchen but I think they were a bit of a pain in the ass to get together. 

Tomorrow I go back to school.  School actually started last week, but I missed class due to the weather.  I have to go a little early tomorrow to catch up.  Before school I am hoping to finish up the bedroom and get the hammock in there.  I also have to finish packing a bag for the hospital--I'm about half done now.
