A few weeks ago, Mom & I took the kids out on a little adventure. Mom was on vacation and we really wanted to check out the new cupcake store in town, so we headed out to the park and for a little stroll around downtown Saratoga. We started out in Congress Park to check out what time the carousel opened. We started out early and found that the carousel didn't open until 11am, so we decided to poke around the park a little bit and check out the ducks and fountains and stuff.
Cat was very interested in the baby ducks, so I shot a few pictures of them for her to keep.
She took a break from the duckies to check out a fountain. It was a little breezy, so the fountain spray hit her every so often.
The park and the kiddo were just so pretty:
There are two ponds at the park, both with ducks, so we wandered over to check out the second pond. There was a little boy there and he and Cat were checking each other out but wouldn't say a word to each other. Once he left, she was much more adventurous in the gazebo on the pond. She and Grammy were looking for more ducks, but most of them were at the other pond.
Baby brother Eric was along for the ride, and was a real trooper. It was a pretty cool day, so the fleece pouch worked well and kept him happy and close to Mama.
It was only 9:30am or so, and we had some time to kill, so we went for a little stroll around downtown and went to see the cupcake store and have a little snack.
It turned out that the cupcake store didn't open until 11 either, but the nice ladies inside let us take a look around and watch them frost cupcakes. They thought that Cat was the cutest thing ever--her dress matched the door!! We continued our walk, determined to come back when they opened up. We stopped by the neat little toy store on Broadway, G. Willikers, and stopped for diaper changes, nursing and snacks at Bruegger's and then headed back to Spa City Cupcakes. Eric and I stayed outside this time, because we had brought the stroller along for Cat and I didn't want to have to wrangle it up or down stairs to get to the shop. Cat and Grammy picked up cupcakes for the three of us and one to go for Cat's Daddy. After the cupcake shop, we headed back to the park so that Cat could go on the carousel RIGHT NOW!!!
The first time Cat and Grammy rode, Cat was afraid of the horses going up and down, so she sat on the bench.
She did like saying hello to the horses and petting them a bit.
After the carousel, we sat on the grass and ate our cupcakes. While yummy, they've got nothing on my mom's cupcakes. Next time, we'll probably bring our own snacks! Baby brother Eric slept the whole time we were out (except for snacktime at Bruegger's), but seemed to enjoy himself just the same.

Oh my that Cat looks more delicious than ANY cupcake. Her dress is divine! Aunt Kim needs one just like it.
